Hi!  My name is Elin de Ruyter  and welcome to my blog.  Thanks for stopping by and having a look. I appreciate your interest and would love to hear your comments.

I am a first generation Australian, born in Iceland. I have always had a curiosity about my family and place of birth across the seas and a longing to know the people my mother and father came from.

I am a wife and mother to 4 young children, so life is very busy at times, but I love the outlet writing offers, when I can squeeze in the time, so I wanted combine my passion for family history and writing with this blog.

I am still learning the ropes of Genealogy, blogging and writing creative non fiction, so please don´t be too hard on me, if mistakes are made.  Hopefully family and friends may enjoy reading some of the stories in this blog.  If anything, this will hopefully provide my children one day with the opportunity to read about their ancestors, in English.
